All-Wheel-Drive Dyno Tuning Perth
Mechanically Linked AWD / 4WD Roller Dynamometer
Professional petrol and diesel dyno tuning, ECU and TCU calibration using our Australian-built Dyno Innovations mechanically linked AWD roller dyno.
Controlled load testing, repeatable dyno runs and detailed data logging for modern AWD, 4WD, front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive vehicles.
Built For Modern Vehicles
Modern vehicles are no longer controlled by the engine ECU alone.
AWD systems, ABS, traction control, stability control, torque management and electronic transmissions can all communicate across the vehicle network and influence engine performance.
TechTune Performance uses a Dyno Innovations Australia AWD / 4WD roller dynamometer with mechanically linked front and rear dyno beds.
The mechanical link keeps the front and rear rollers synchronised during testing, allowing all four wheels to rotate together.
This provides a controlled environment suitable for testing modern AWD and four-wheel-drive vehicles where maintaining the correct relationship between front and rear wheel speed is important.
For us, the dyno isn't simply a horsepower measuring device. It is a calibration, validation and diagnostic tool.
Serious Load Control
Our Dyno Innovations system is designed for controlled steady-state testing and repeatable ramp-rate power runs, giving us the ability to apply controlled load rather than simply relying on roller inertia.
Why Does A Linked Dyno Matter?
On the road, an AWD vehicle expects its front and rear wheel speeds to maintain a predictable relationship.
Modern vehicle control systems continuously monitor those wheel speeds alongside ABS, stability control, drivetrain control and torque-management systems.
On a mechanically linked AWD dynamometer, the front and rear roller assemblies are physically synchronised.
This means the front and rear wheels remain mechanically related during a dyno run rather than allowing two completely independent roller systems to vary in speed.
Front and rear rollers move together.
The linked system mechanically synchronises both dyno beds, helping replicate the front-to-rear wheel-speed relationship that many modern AWD and 4WD vehicles expect to see during normal road operation.
Controlled Testing. Measured Results.
Controlled Ramp Rates
Controlled acceleration rates allow testing to be repeated consistently while analysing engine and transmission behaviour throughout the RPM range.
Steady-State Testing
Eddy-current retarders allow load to be applied to the vehicle and held in specific operating areas for detailed calibration, diagnostics and data analysis.
AWD & 4WD Capability
Mechanically linked front and rear beds allow us to test many vehicles that require all four wheels to operate together.
ECU Data Logging
Vehicle data can be monitored alongside dyno testing so we can analyse boost, fuelling, timing, torque management, temperatures and other critical parameters.
Repeatable Testing
Controlled back-to-back testing allows us to validate calibration changes rather than relying on estimated or advertised performance gains.
Petrol & Diesel Tuning
TechTune Performance tunes both petrol and diesel vehicles across a wide range of supported platforms, including performance cars, 4WDs, dual-cab utes, touring vehicles and European vehicles.
We Tune The Vehicle's Calibration
TechTune Performance specialises in factory ECU and TCU software calibration.
Where supported, we work directly with the vehicle's engine and transmission control strategies rather than installing devices that simply intercept or manipulate sensor signals.
We do not tune aftermarket standalone ECUs, piggyback ECUs or plug-in tuning chips.
Plug-in tuning chips generally modify or intercept selected signals rather than providing complete access to the vehicle's factory ECU calibration strategy.
Our focus is professional petrol and diesel ECU and TCU calibration where the vehicle can be data logged, tested under controlled load, calibrated and then validated.
Calibration Goes Further Than Peak Power
A dyno gives us the ability to examine a vehicle under repeatable, measurable load while simultaneously communicating with its electronic control systems.
Depending on the vehicle, ECU strategy and available data, we may analyse parameters including:
Test. Calibrate. Validate.
Baseline
The vehicle is inspected, scanned and baseline tested so we understand its current condition and performance before calibration changes are made.
Data Log
The vehicle is monitored under controlled load and the relevant data is analysed to understand how the factory calibration is operating.
Calibrate
ECU and, where applicable, TCU calibration is modified to suit the vehicle, its hardware and its intended use.
Validate
Calibration changes are tested and logged again so the finished result is based on measured data rather than an assumed performance increase.
One Dyno. Multiple Drivetrain Types.
The linked AWD roller dyno gives TechTune Performance the flexibility to test a broad range of drivetrain configurations, subject to individual vehicle compatibility and dyno dimensions.
A Dyno Is Only As Useful As The Data Behind It
Simply putting a vehicle on a dynamometer does not make a calibration custom.
The dyno provides the controlled testing environment. The calibration work comes from understanding the ECU and TCU strategy, analysing the data and determining which changes produce the required result.
At TechTune Performance, the objective is to combine ECU calibration knowledge, vehicle data logging and controlled dyno testing to develop a result suited to the individual vehicle.
Whether the objective is towing performance, throttle response, drivability or outright performance, the vehicle is evaluated as a complete system rather than simply chasing the highest dyno number.
AWD Dyno Tuning FAQ
What is a linked AWD dyno?
A linked AWD dyno mechanically connects the front and rear roller assemblies so their speeds remain synchronised. This is useful for testing modern AWD and 4WD vehicles whose control systems monitor the relationship between front and rear wheel speeds.
Can you dyno tune AWD vehicles in Perth?
Yes. TechTune Performance operates a Dyno Innovations mechanically linked AWD / 4WD roller dynamometer for compatible AWD and four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Do you tune petrol vehicles as well as diesel vehicles?
Yes. TechTune Performance tunes both petrol and diesel vehicles, with ECU and TCU calibration, dyno testing and data logging available across a wide range of supported platforms.
Do you tune aftermarket ECUs or plug-in tuning chips?
No. Our core service is calibration of supported factory engine and transmission control modules. We do not provide tuning services for aftermarket standalone ECUs, piggyback ECUs or plug-in tuning chips.
Is dyno tuning only about making more horsepower?
No. Peak power is only one measurement. Controlled dyno testing can also be used to analyse torque delivery, boost behaviour, fuelling, ignition or injection timing, transmission operation and overall vehicle behaviour under load.
Why use an AWD dyno for modern performance vehicles?
Many modern performance vehicles use electronically controlled AWD systems and continuously monitor wheel speed, torque distribution and stability-control data. A mechanically linked AWD dyno allows the front and rear wheels to operate together during controlled testing.
