4JJ3 MU-X Multimapping Now Available

TechTune Performance now offers a 6-map selectable Multimap calibration for the 4JJ3 Isuzu MU-X. All six calibrations are stored and controlled directly through the factory ECU, with map selection carried out using the factory cruise-control switch.

There are no tuning boxes, external controllers or aftermarket map switches required. One MU-X can have six selectable calibration modes available through the factory ECU, giving you more flexibility for security, warm-up, stock driving, towing and performance use.

Our usual supported custom calibration options are still available alongside Multimapping, including hard-cut limiter options and other vehicle-specific features where appropriate. We also have further 4JJ3 technology in development, with more features to be released as they become available.

4JJ3 MU-X Engine Tuning – More Than Just Boost & Fuel

The 4JJ3 responds extremely well to correct calibration, particularly through the low and mid-range where a MU-X spends most of its time on-road, towing and touring.

Using professional tuning, binary and calibration software, we modify the relevant ECU maps directly. The objective is not simply to chase the highest dyno number — it is to make the engine produce stronger, smoother and more usable torque while keeping the calibration controlled.

4JJ3 MU-X Power & Torque Gains

We don't sell the 4JJ3 as a generic Stage 1 or Stage 2 package. The calibration is built around the vehicle's condition, hardware and intended use.

Results vary between vehicles. Tyre size, intake and exhaust hardware, vehicle condition, fuel quality and the intended torque curve all influence the final result.

MU-X Engine & Transmission Tuning Working Together

Increasing engine torque is only half the job. On automatic MU-X models, correct Aisin transmission calibration allows the gearbox to work properly with the new engine torque delivery.

We calibrate transmission behaviour at the software level, including relevant shift strategy, torque management, lock-up operation and pressure control. The objective is smoother operation, reduced unnecessary slip and more predictable transmission behaviour under load.

4JJ3 MU-X HPD Intercooler Upgrade – Cooler Air. Consistent Power.

An upgraded intercooler is one of the most worthwhile supporting modifications for a tuned 4JJ3, particularly for MU-X vehicles used for towing, touring or sustained heavy-load operation.

As boost and engine load increase, intake air temperature becomes increasingly important. A larger, efficient intercooler helps reduce heat soak and provides the engine with a cooler, denser and more consistent air charge.

HPD Intercooler Upgrade — improved charge-air cooling helps control intake temperature during towing, touring and sustained engine load.

MU-X Transmission Cooler – Control Heat Under Load

Transmission temperature management becomes increasingly important when a MU-X is towing, touring, driving in sand or operating with increased engine torque.

Automatic transmission fluid is responsible for lubrication, hydraulic control and clutch operation. Excessive temperature places greater stress on the fluid and the components that rely on it.

Transmission Cooler Upgrade — additional cooling capacity helps control transmission temperature during towing, touring, sand driving and sustained load.

For heavily loaded or regularly towed MU-X vehicles, we strongly recommend considering an upgraded transmission cooler as part of the overall package.

4JJ3 MU-X Exhaust Upgrades – Supporting Efficiency & Response

A correctly selected exhaust system can complement a tuned MU-X by reducing unnecessary restriction and improving exhaust flow while maintaining the required emissions equipment for road-going vehicles.

A quality DPF-back exhaust can improve the rear section of the exhaust system without modifying factory emissions components. When combined with correct calibration, this can help improve engine response, sound and overall drivability.
